Metal Stamping Home : Sheet Metal Stamping | Aluminum Stamping
Sheet Metal Stamping is a process that use dies to transform flat metal sheets into shapes. Odds are you have a product in your home that has parts created through sheet metal stamping because it is a process used in everything from your household appliances to automotive industries. Sheet Metal Stamping is used for producing parts for large machinery, but the metal sheets can also be molded into shapes for household items like pots and pans.
Mechanical and hydraulic are the two types of sheet metal stamping presses. Metal stamping machines cast, punch, cut and shape metal sheets. To create three-dimensional shapes, a flat sheet of metal is inserted into a die and then a mechanical press is activated to create the object. Sheets of up to 1/4 inch thickness are molded into specified shapes and sizes. Aluminum, copper, zinc and stainless steel are some of the metals used by companies offering sheet metal stampings.
The presses used for sheet metal stampings can create quite a wide range of products and they can perform a series of operations including blanking, metal coining and four slide forming. Blanking (also called fine blanking) is usually the first die in a series of dies that leads to one completed part. Metal coining (as the title implies) can be used to create coins, but it has other uses as well. Four slide forming incorporates a variety of stamping and forming processes to create more complex products and it is particularly effective for smaller parts.
Sheet Metal (Aluminum and Steel) stamping are used in a variety of industries because parts can be turned out at a very high rate and this is good for overall production times and costs.
Trident Resources LP capabilities include precision custom metal stamping presses with speeds up to 1,000 strokes per minute and the ability to produce precision stampings from virtually any material including copper alloys, aluminum, steel, stainless, and titanium just to name a few.
